Reciprocal tariffs

On April 02nd, 2025, known as the “Liberation Day”, President Trump released a chart of countries that will be charged with additional tariffs (reciprocal tariffs order).

For Canada and Mexico, the existing fentanyl/migration IEEPA order remain in effect and unaffected by this order. This means USMCA originated goods will continue to apply for a 0% duty rate, non-USMCA originated goods will face a 25% import duty rate with some exceptions.

If eventually the IEEPA order is terminated, USMCA originated goods will continue to receive preferential duty rate, but non-USMCA goods, would be subject to a 12% reciprocal tariff.

Please note that these orders can change at any time.

The purpose of this document is to inform, in general terms, the most relevant aspects of the release, so it does not include a depth analysis of it and in each case its specific effects and consequences must be reviewed.
